Tacky Tourist

Well, the next two days are all mine so I plan on seeing the city. Tommorow I've decided to join the rest of the tacky tourist and do the Orginal London bus tour. Even though it's kind of tacky it takes you through the whole city in a couple hours at a reasonable price. I'll make sure to look for the elusive waffle. I think Sunday will be some more shopping then possibly to the pub for a pint or two with the people from work.

Word of the Day

Here's a new phrase I learnt today...car boot sale. Anyone want to take a stab at what it is?

All I need is a miracle

I wasn't sure if any miracles were going to be made this week but I made one yesterday. After the power lunch I got to go another meeting on meth. Suprisingly meth is just making it's way over to Europe and hasn't caused too much damage. The two we met with wanted to know the mistakes we made along the way, such as legislation, and what kind of campaigning we did in the US. Well, since we had plenty of mistakes or at least things we would do differently looking back on it we had quite a bit of info to give them. The meeting seemed to go over well and it seemed like they took some of our info to heart. Here's hoping meth won't be as big of problem in the UK...Otherwise I'll be siccing the Meth Princess on them!

This WTF moment is brought to you by...

So here's my WTF moment that I experienced a couple days ago. As my driver was taking to me to my place we came to this stop light where we couldn't turn right. Well this guy in front of us did just that and my guy promptly honked at him. Here's the WTF moment. We turn left only to turn around in the middle of the street so we can go to the right. My driver's like "I do this all the time, I just turn around in the middle" but goes on to say he can't believe the guy in front of us would turn right. WTF?!?!

In other news, no miracles made at work today. I made a few after work in the pub...does that count?? Tomorrow is my power lunch at the embassy. Go power lunch!!

Working 9 to 5

Today was my first day in the office and all in all it went well. Surprisingly my computer system came up without any problems. I sat down with everyone and went over what I was going to be doing while I was here. Sadly I can't go into it in the blog but hopefully I'll be making a few miracles!

I do have some gossip for you....as I was getting my access to the building this morning the lady working there told us that someone famous was coming in. Unfortunately I never saw this person :( I'll give you a hint...the person's nickname rhymes with badge.

Welcome to MTV Cribs

Well, I managed to make it over to the UK okay. The plane ride was uneventful, although I was keeping an eye out for LH's bro before I boarded. He works for TSA out at Dulles and we were joking the other day about how it would be funny to pull someone out of the security line and "charge" them with something a la Punk'd style. Maybe he's waiting to pull me out of the customs line when I get back...hummm. Anyway, I arrived at my flat and spent awhile trying to figure out how to unlock the place as it had several keys but once inside I found it to be a great place. No air conditioning but thankfully the weather is near perfect right now.

I struck out next to see if I could get my wireless up and working. Of course I about had a melt down when I went to the Wi-Fi Starbucks across the street and it didn't work. I wasn't sure if it was the place or me so set out to find another one. I'm guessing you can tell how this story ends seeing I'm posting on my blog.

Otherwise I spent the afternoon shopping on Oxford Street. A lot of great stores but I didn't purchase anything...at least not yet. Didn't want to go and buy everything on the first day. All in all it wasn't much of an exciting day. But I did get one mystery solved that I had been wondering about for awhile. I know this sounds really stupid but I always wondered if you could have personalized plates here in the UK. It's every other car up in VA but whenever I saw anything on TV, the movies or whatever that was set over here I never saw one personalized plate. Apparently you can have one it will just cost you everything you have plus your first born. The guy that drove me in this morning said that on the low end it starts in the several thousand pounds but can go as high as 500,000 pounds. Yeah, I see why no one does it. Anyway, below are couple photos of what my place looks like. Hope to have a few more tomorrow. Toodles!
