Stranger in a Strange Land
Well today was my first day without work so I had to find a way to entertain myself besides sitting at the hotel all day. By about noon I was ready to strike out and even had eau du deet on to ward off the bugs. I figured today I would try and find the Zona Rosa that was a short distance away. It wasn't hard to find but there wasn't much to see either. The first place I went was the grocery store or Super Selectos as this one was called. Pretty much had everything I was used to seeing except for the armed guards. Guess the grocery store is a pretty dangerous place to be. In all reality though, I saw quite a few guards, armed and un-armed, around the area. The area seemed pretty safe and I guess that might be why.
Next I tried out the McDonald's that I ran across and it was surprisingly good. I'll have to keep it in mind since I'm sure I'll grow tired of the hotel food. Across from McDonald's were a couple shops that were nice. One of them was a book store which had US magazines but were for sale for about 7 bucks a pop. Pick-up Artist will be happy as I as able to find a creepy clown at one of the shops. Below is a shot of the zona rosa...like I said not much to it.
After the Zona I walked a short ways to this church I has seen in the morning on the way to the embassy. Not much to say about it but it was pretty.
Anyway after that I had about as much "sightseeing" I could handle and made my way back to the hotel. Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow...possibly check out the mall, it seemed pretty nice. Random side note, besides being my title it is also the name of a song...can anyone name the artist? No cheating now ;)
