Au Revoir Paris!

Today I had the day to myself so I saw a few more sights in the area. This morning I went to Versailles. I was surprised to see how close it was to the city. I'm guessing back then it was a ways out but now it's simply part of the suburbs. Overall I wasn't that impressed with it. Not sure what I expected but it was just kind of meh. I think it would have been better had I seen the gardens in the summer. As it was now there weren't many flowers and the tree's leaves were falling off.

After Versailles I headed back into the city and went to Notre Dame. I waited for an hour and a half to go up in the towers but it was well worth the wait. The view from up there was great and it was fun looking at all the different gargoyles.

Since Notre Dame was 400 plus steps total I thought I should continue on with the workout and I made my way towards Sacre Coeur. The Sacre coeur is the highest point in the city and had great views as well. What made the view a little better here was the fact that the sun was starting to come out from the clouds. The steps up to the Dome of the church was only 300 but the walking up to the church from the metro had a be another steep 100 plus steps.

Here are a few of the photos I took today...

Quelle est la OBX?

Just when I thought I could go a week without seeing an OBX sticker I see one a car over here. It was on one of the American cars so I'm guessing they had it on their car before coming over the France. Still I can't believe I saw one of those stupid stickers almost 4,000 miles from home. The French are probably like "WTF, Quelle est la OBX?!?"

That was just a dream, right?

So last night around 1:30am my personal cell phone starts ringing. The area code was from MN and I didn't recognize the number so I thought something might have been wrong. I mean, who calls that late? I missed the call but the person left a message. Yeah, I couldn't have been more wrong. It was some woman looking for Joe saying she could come "help" later that night with those "things". Riight. She goes on to saying her kids go to bed around 8 so she could come over any time after that to help him with that "stuff". Why she was being a vague about it all I don't get. I mean she is making a booty call after all....

the sights

Some of the things I saw while out and about today...

Le Tour Eiffel

Pont Nerf at sunset

And here I thought only the Americans would hang something stupid like this in their cars. If you can't quite make the sign out it says "bebe a bord".

my shoebox

I know hotels in Europe tend to run on the small side but this is pushing it just a bit. If I wanted to lay my suitcase out it I literally could not walk around it to the other side of the room if I wanted to. To top it off around 2:30 last night my toilet desided to become possessed and start running water non-stop. Now this wasn't just it trickling a bit this is like it's flooding and will run over any second. I mention this to the front desk first thing this morning in hopes they would fix it but alas I was wrong. I come back 12 hours later and it's still doing the same thing. The only reason I know they at least came and looked was the lid was off the tank but otherwise you could tell. I went downstairs to ask about it again and the best they could do is shut it off and have me move to another room for just tonight....how evil...
